Video from 63 Crayons (Athens, Ga., band)
While I was in Athens, Georgia, I hoped to see if 63 Crayons was performing somewhere. Athens has lots of music clubs like the 40 Watt Club, but I wasn't able to see neither the band or any live music for that matter over the weekend (more on that later).
But, I met someone who knew Charlie Johnston the lead singer of the band at the Wuxtry Records store downtown.
63 Crayons was a popular band in my hometown of Roanoke, Va., circa 2001, but they decided to relocate to Athens in 2003 (according to Wikipedia).
Charlie and I worked at the Grandin Theatre in Roanoke. Alas, I've only seen the band perform once, but they have a unique post-modern sound as one can hear on this video for the song "Save Us," which features dancers with the Whistling School for Boys, also out of Athens.....
