I heard the sad news that special effects wizard Stan Winston of "Jurrasic Park" and "Aliens" fame has died from cancer at the age of 62.
I had a chance to see Winston talk at the Virginia Film Festival several years ago when he presented a special screening of "Aliens" with Sigourney Weaver.
Christopher Knight, who I frequently cite on this blog, has a moving tribute to him on his blog as well.
"Pumpkinhead" was a 1988 low-budget horror film which marked Winston's directorial debut. I just got around to watching it myself last year.
