Bill Clinton in North Carolina

I had a chance to see Bill Clinton speak last night in the small city I reside in. Today, he started a similar eight-city tour in Elizabeth City, NC, which is due south of Virginia Beach and a good seven hour drive from this region.

This video is from a similar rally that he gave in the Raleigh suburb of Cary, NC, on March 21.

"The Charlotte Observer" stated this morning that small towns and suburbs will be crucial in determing whether Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama will win tomorrow's North Carolina primary.

Both candidates have campaigned extensively throughout the Tarheel State.

Bill Clinton's swing concludes in Roxboro, NC, tonight. He will also pass through towns like Smithfield and Henderson in the central part of the state.

I was amazed how refreshed and composed Bill Clinton looked last night. Regardless if one loves or loaths him, he must be given credit for his exceptional campaigning skills. And, there is now little doubt that he was a significantly better president than the current occupant of the Oval Office.

Bill Clinton was quite moving when he talked about the plight of middle class Americans. He talked about a woman he met on the trail who was advised to get a divorce so she could get health insurance. Her husband, an independent truck driver, was making a good living until the rising cost of gas forced him to look at other options for work.

UPDATE: I just saw on the news that Hillary was in High Point this morning, and Obama was in Durham. The last poll I saw had Obama ahead by a 49-42 margin, though Hillary has gained on him.

While I have made the fact that I'm choosing Clinton (it was a tough decision!) public, I have not stated that I am also supporting Bev Perdue for governor as her platform for education looks stronger, and Jim Neal as the Democratic Senate candidate. In my opinion, he has simply out-campaigned his opponent for the nomination.
