Before There was D.B. Cooper......

.........there was Everett Ruess.

Plan B Theatre out of Salt Lake City, Utah, is presenting "The End of the Horizon" about the artist and naturalist who mysteriously vanished in November of 1934 in the wilderness of Utah at the age of 20. He was never seen again.

My friend Jerry Rapier is the artistic director of Plan B, and they will be staging this production of Utah playwright Debroa Threedy's play. Threedy is also in the cast.

The Plan B web site describes the play as: "a searing drama about the Ruess family and the power of the unknown."

The production runs through March 30.

Other actors in the cast are Jason Bowcutt, David Fetzer and Stephanie Howell.

The official Everett Ruess web site quotes the artists as telling folks: "When I go I leave no trace."

According to the web site, Ruess also met photographers Ansel Adams and Edward Weston before disappearing 'into the wild.'

For those in SLC (which doesn't include me), there is also a free screening of a Diane Orr film "Lost Forever Everett Ruess" at the Tower Theatre on Tuesday.

Closer to home, in Greensboro, NC, Triad Stage will is currently producing John Patrick Shanley's award-winning play "Doubt," about a Catholic church scandal in the Bronx during the 1960s.
