Quote of the Week: Cartoonist Ivan Brunetti

Our always enlightening 'Quote of the Week' segment is back from an extended summer vacation. And, this week, we return with a quip from Chicago alternative cartoonist Ivan Brunetti, who has put together some real sick stuff (which is of course hilarious!).

My favorites include an alooft girl who works at a suicide hotline: "...take the razor blade and cut parallel to your arm, not perpendicular," a man with extremely large testicles and an X-rated version of Charlie Brown and Lucy. Needless to say, if you find "Hagar the Horrible" amusing, you should NOT read Brunetti's new book "Misery Loves Comedy."

(I actually found a Brunetti cartoon that's suitable for print! But, don't get your hopes up, I'm still not voting for Sarah Palin.)

Here is Brunetti's line, which he said in 1996, which was the year when Bill Clinton defeated Bob Dole in the presidential race:

"The current political philosophy is as follows: Conservatives think all liberals are stupid, while liberals think all conservatives are evil. Unfortunately, they are both right."

Cynical, isn't it?
