The Hackensaw Boys first began playing their joyful blend of old-time and bluegrass string-band music on the streets of Charlottesville in the autumn of 1999. Far from limiting themselves to the old-time canon, however, the Hackensaws have been first and foremost a band of songwriters. In the past four years the Hackensaw's have been on two Unlimited Sunshine Tours, two tours with Modest Mouse, backed up Charley Louvin on 18 coast-to-coast dates, opened the 2003 Bonnaroo Festival, performed at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, The High Sierra Music Festival, participated in the Jam Cruise, and put down tracks for a new album. They've survived departures and blessings and, most importantly, each other. Add to this hundreds of nights in hundreds of clubs from Nashville to Bangor, from Los Angeles to Tampa and you begin to get an idea of the dedication and sheer mule-like tenacity that is the Hackensaw ethic.

Nickel Creek is pulling out the stops for its 2007 tour because there won't be one next year. Maybe not the following… Calling for an “indefinite hiatus,” is not hype, but indeed, a needed break.
The band's three members - Chris Thile, Sean Watkins and Sara Watkins - have spent two-thirds of their lives in Nickel Creek, creating a mutation of pop-smart bluegrass-influenced music that earned them a still-growing audience.
With their virtuosity, surprise covers, ever-changing setlist, and staggering improvisation -- every show is a unique experience. In 2006, their broad appeal secured performances at such diverse festivals as The Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Lollapalooza, Merlefest, Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits Music Festival, and the Cambridge Folk Festival in the UK.
