Personal Note from Tilly Gokbudak: Here is to the hope that my favorite American soccer team DC United will join the Boston Red Sox in winning their respective championship.
My favorite Turkish soccer team GalataSaray (Istanbul) beat DenizliSpor on a 90th minute penalty kick in Denizli, Turkey, to win 2-1. They have now moved ahead of SivasSpor to take first place in the Turkish Premiere League.
DC United lost game one to the Chicago Fire 1-0. That game was played last week at Soldier's Field in "The Windy City."
Thursday's game will be televised nationally on ESPN 2.
Update (Nov.3): Ok, so DC United lost the game.........there is always the hope that Duke University will actually win a game when they face the Clemson Tigers in college football today.........oh yeah, I forgot, that game was played earlier today. Never mind!
