On the Six Month Anniversary, Families of Virginia Tech Victims and Survivors Call on Congress to Strengthen Brady Background Checks

Dear Attila,

Photos from the families of some of the Virginia Tech victims.  Today, the families are on Capitol Hill asking Congress to strengthen Brady background checks.

Today, more than fifteen family members and survivors of the Viriginia Tech shootings are on Capitol Hill urging Congress to pass legislation that would help prevent dangerous people like the Virginia Tech killer from getting guns.

They are part of a group of more than fifty family members and survivors who sent a letter to Congress with a simple message: finish work on legislation that could prevent future tragedies. The bill, known as the NICS Improvement Act, was passed by the U.S. House of Representatives in June, but is stalled in the U.S. Senate.

PLEASE CALL YOUR U.S. SENATORS TODAY!

Urge Them to Stand with the Virginia Tech Victims' Families and Pass the NICS Improvement Act Immediately

Sen. Elizabeth Dole - (202) 224-6342
Sen. Richard Burr - (202) 224-3154

In the letter to Congress, the family members write: "In memory of our loved ones murdered six months ago, and in tribute to the courage of the survivors, we petition the Congress to complete the lifesaving work of strengthening the Brady system."

Click here to view the full letter from the families and survivors or click here for more information. Then take just a moment to contact your Senators, even if you think they will be supporting this life-saving legislation, to strongly encourage them to pass the NICS Improvement Act now.

Congress must pass this legislation to ensure that records of dangerous people who are prohibited from buying guns get into the Brady background check system.

Sincerely,
Sarah's Signature [image]
Sarah Brady, Chair
