New Bruce Piephoff CD in Jan '08

My friend Bruce Piephoff is a folk singer in Greensboro, NC. He has recorded several albums with Flyin' Cloud Records in Eden, NC. I fully expect his new release will contain some more great songs. Two of my personal favorite Piephoff tunes are "I Remember Asheville" and "20 Miles to Baghdad."

Bruce Piephoff will release his 16th CD, The Chestnut Tree, on Flyin' Cloud
Records in January 2008. It is a folk/blues and poetry album of story song
character sketches; 17 new original songs including several spoken word poems.
Backing Bruce's acoustic guitar and vocals are Sam Frazier, electric guitar;
Scott Walker, cello, fiddle; Renee Mendoza(of Filthy Bird) and Dakota Joe on
vocals; David "Driveway" Moore on blues harp; Bill Payne on dobro and Keith
Buckner on bass and banjo. The record was produced by Texas singer/songwriter Jim
Ritchey. There are songs about Jesse Owens, Anne Frank, Charlie Poole and a
host of fictional characters. Also featured in the liner notes are several
folk art paintings by Mike Spainhour and photographs by Liz Larson. There will
be a CD release gig at The Coffee Break, 1820 Spring Garden St., Greensboro,
NC, 336.230.2310, on Fri., Feb 29 from 7:00pm-10:00pm. No cover charge. CDs
can also be ordered from Hamburger Square Productions by sending a check for
