First Line of a Novel (3 of 11)_ "A Christmas Carol"
My friend Tom Angleberger, who writes children's books under the name Sam Riddleberger, is a huge Charles Dickens fan.
I, however, have only read one of his books in recent years. It was a copy of "A Christmas Carol" that I found in Bethel, Maine, last year.
Here is the first line of that novel:
"Marley was dead: to begin with."
