At the Cat's Cradle-Enter the Haggis, et al.

There are a couple of nifty shows coming to the Cat's Cradle nightclub in Carboro (Chapel Hill), NC, within the next few months.

The Canadian Celtic rock band Enter the Haggis which I first saw perform at my alma mater Radford University (in Radford, Va.) will perform on Wed., Sept. 2. Admission is $12/14.

A few days later, the African-American bluegrass band Carolina Chocolate Drops from Durham, NC, will be at the Cat's Cradle on Sat., Sept. 5, $15

The shock Korean-American comedian Margaret Cho, who once said that she would never vote for Sarah Palin but she would *&%# her, is performing her provocative stand-up routine on Thurs., Sept. 17 ($22-25). Alas, I have to teach a yoga class that night*.

And, on Halloween night the hip instrumental band Toubab Krewe from Asheville, NC, will perform at Cat's Cradle ($14-16). I last saw this band perform in the small town of Floyd, Va., on Dec. 1, 2007, when amazingly enough a Food Lion truck struck a powerline causing the whole town to black out which lead to an abrupt end to the show! Hopefully, that won't happen in Carboro.

Silly Photo to Fill Space_ Myrtle Beach Lobster Van

And, with this entry I wish a speedy recovery to my good friend Peggy Duncan, a professional photographer in Bethesda, Maryland*. She came down with some fluke illness, but she is doing well. Apparently, eating lots of lobster (should you able to afford it) could cause a fluke illness of some sort too!

*- I should add that Peggy Duncan is a psedonymn just in case the real Peggy Duncan googles her name and finds this blog..........

Quote of the Week- Jim Morrison

We are going with two respective quotes from two figures associated with the late 1960s on our two respective blogs.

Mao Tse-Tung was the first of two quotes on our sister blog "The Daily Vampire."

We go with the late Jim Morrison of The Doors here:

"A friend is someone who gives you total freedom to be yourself."

Silly Photo to Fill Space- "Too Close for Comfort"

We have a photo of "Three's Company" on our sister blog "The Daily Vampire." I loved both of these shows when they first aired. Of course, I was only 11 years old at the time!

Quote of the Week- Marie Osmond

"If you're going to be able to look back and something and laugh about it, you might as well laugh about it now."

To complement this entry, we have a quip from Marilyn Manson on our sister blog "The Daily Vampire."

Special Fourth of July Quote_ Art Garfunkel

"When Paul and I were first friends (as kids).............we would sing a little together and we would make up radio shows and become djs.......then came rock and roll."

A quote from Paul Simon is on our sister blog, The Daily Vampire, which also features a photo of one hot babe.........!

Silly Photo to Fill Space- Baby Turtle

Incidentally, the Turkish word for turtle is kamplumdag. I have no idea what it is in Norwegian.
