Quote of the Week-Ron Howard

Today we post two quotes from "Happy Days" stars on our two respective blogs. One from Henry Winkler is available at "The Daily Vampire."

Here we quote new grandfather (his daughter the ever-hot Bryce Dallas Howard recently had a child) and AARP Magazine cover guy Ron Howard, who was (of course) Richie Cunnigham.

I must say I went through three pages of quotes from the child star turned movie director (loved "Frost/Nixon, btw), when we suddenly came across this startling one:

"You reach a certain point where you say you're not going to do juvenilles any longer," Ron Howard.

Silly Photo to Fill Space

I adored this photo of a cat and a Slinky...........hmm, perhaps I should get one for my cat Gizmo, but then again knowing him, as well as I do, he would probably ignore it!

ZIP CODE USA_ 38478 Pulaski, Tenn.

Today we focus this blog entry (note many previous entries to this series are on our other blog "The Daily Vampire") on Pulaski, TN., which is the place where the Ku Klux Klan was founded in 1865.

I was initially going to post a picture of the Klan with this entry but I thought it would: a) potentially offend African-Americans b) displease the city's mayor Daniel M. Speer, who could stumble upon this blog. So, we are going with the University of Tennessee's mascot instead though we suspect Pulaski, which sits on the Alabama border, is pretty far from the campus in Knoxville!

(We found a cyber-image of an old postcard of a county courthouse from Pulaski, Tenn., but this seemed more visual.)

The city of Pulaski, TN., has condemned the KKK, which was founded there in 1865 by Civil War soldiers who wanted to form a social club. Interestingly enough, one of the group's founders was named John Kennedy.

The city's web site promotes Pulaski, TN., 38478, as a place that is safe, clean, healthy and prosperous.

Pulaski, TN., is the county seat to Giles County. It is 70 percent and 27 percent African-American. The city's population is 7,871.

I have never been to Pulaski, but I am curious how the city manages to build its image given that it is the place where the most infamous 'political' organization in America had its roots.

Special Quote of the Week_ Paris Hilton

"The way I see it, you should live everyday like it's your birthday."

Amazingly enough, Ms. Hilton seems more humble than Heidi Montag (and Mr. Heidi- aka Spencer Pratt)..........how is that possible?

NOTE: I believe I have used this quote before on one of my blogs, but it is rerun season!

Silly Photo to Fill Space

At first glance, one might assume this photo is an example of American zaniness, but amazingly enough this photo of a doga class (yoga with dogs) was apparently taken in Brisbane, Australia. I took some yoga classes here in North Carolina and in Roanoke, Va., a few years ago. My poses were quite limited though! (and, no I did not bring Mitzi the family dog).

Quote of the Week_Kurt Vonnegut Jr.

"True terror is to wake up one morning and discover that your high school class is running the country," the late Kurt Vonnegut Jr., who penned "Slaughterhouse Five."
