Greetings from Mister Snake

If one travels to a Central American country like Belize, Honduras or Guatemala, one may encounter this breed of reptile: The Mayan Coral Snake.

Though it is supposedly shy in nature, one Belize travel site said this breed of snake bit a local resident in the village of Xabie in 2007. The man did not seek immediate medical attention, and he died the next day.

It should be pointed out, I suppose, that this breed of snake is highly venomous.

Good morning to our friends in Dubai, where it should be approaching 9:00 a.m., which is apparently the top blogging hour, but come that time tomorrow I will probably be picking up laundry from the Spring Center Laundromat in the D.C. suburb of Silver Spring, Maryland*; they even offer wi fi!

And, for those who want to see a live snake show, the Everglades Alligator Farm in Homestead, Fla., has them at 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., tell them we sent you, not that it will matter at the gate! The park also offers alligator shows at 11:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.

This is the third of a proposed five consecutive entries in our make-shift 'Reptiles Week' blog series; other entries can be found at our sister blog: http://www.politicscultureandotherwastesoft.blogspot.com

*- We don't really live in Silver Spring, Md.

Highlights from My 40 Things To Do List

Those of you who are jumping from our sister blog "The Daily Vampire" are perhaps more keenly aware than the rest of you about what I am doing here. Yes, I am simply posting things from an actual 40 Things To Do List that I made yesterday. Hopefully, at least six of the things will get completed!

Hopefully, you can also match the item posted with the proper image. The clothes line is from a couple (I presume they are Americans) who decided to get away from it all and go to Mexico. Hmmmm....yes, I hope they don't get held hostage by armed drug gangs either!

Here are highlights from the mega-list; the number in parantheses is where the item actually was on the real list:

1. Copy resumes (#10)

2. Go to Sweded Film Festival at the Shadowbox Cinema (#19)

3. Oil Change (#20)

4. Laundry (#21)

5. See the Henrik Ibsen play at Triad Stage (#25)

6. Write a piece of flash fiction, whatever that means (#27)

7. Try to get more organized (#37)

8. Find missing headphones (#35)

9. Take a very long walk (#39)

10. Listen to BBC (#40)

Motto of the Week- Why Nothing Ever Gets Done

Here is our motto for the day, which may read like some kind of avant garde poem:

"Dirty dishes. Laundry. Friends. Frenemies. High School classmates. Women. Platonic relationships. Possible relationships. Possibly serious relationship. Bad relationships. Finding a relationship. E-Harmony. Facebook. Twitter. My Space. Read book of poems by Ted Kooser. Write an essay/blog entry/short story/short play/screenplay/novel. Mom. Grade papers. Prepare tests. Fix car. Wash car. Call the doctor's/dentist office. Volunteer for local animal shelter. Donate old coat to Goodwill. Give to Habitat for Humanity. Send birthday to co-worker. See the new hip, happening French film even if it's showing an hour away.

Why nothing ever gets done....."

This is slightly different than the version I posted on "The Daily Vampire." In this version, we mentioning washing the car in addition to fixing it. If you live in the Charlotte, NC, suburb of Fort Mill, SC, we recommend taking your car to Tega Cay Wash and Lube!

Silly Photo to Fill Space- Laundry Time

Yes, in case you were wondering that is Safir, a Turkish laundry detergent, which is undoubtedly used in every laundry place in Bakirkoy (forgive the ethnic humor; Bakirkoy is a large suburban section of Istanbul).

For those not in Bakirkoy, there is always Phoenix Laundry in Gainesville, Fla., which is open 24/7. I suppose those college students from Gator U have lots of dirty boxer shorts!
