Remembering Prince with Our 10 Favorite Songs By Him....

Like the rest of the world, we were stunned to hear about the death of the iconic pop star Prince (1958-2016) at the age of 57. At first, we actually thought Prince Charles, who is 76, had died and that the person telling me of Prince's death had left out the word 'Charles.'

In honor of Prince, we are posting a list of our ten favorite songs by him. He also penned "Manic Monday" for The Bangles and "Nothing Compares 2 U" for Sinead O'Connor:

1) Raspberry Beret (1985; pict. top)

2) Controversy (1981)

3) Purple Rain (1984; pict. center)

4) Kiss (1986; pict. bottom)

5) Let's Go Crazy (1984)

6) When Doves Cry (1984)

7) Delirious (1983)

8) I Would Die 4 U (1984)

9) Little Red Corvette (1983)

10) 1999 (1982)

The Rude Discovery

A few days ago when my mother came to visit me in Mount Airy, NC (not where I actually reside), she informed me that she had discovered a note I had written in the guest bedroom.

The note, as it turns out, was a random list of things I could do to improve my life, which is at times a bit out of sink.

The number one item on the list was: "I need to be more independent of my domineering mother."

I felt tremendously guilty of the note even though mom said she was 'not mad at me.'

When she went back to Virginia, I gave her a call and said: "You are not a domineering mother in Joan Crawford sense, but you have some Queen Elizabeth tendencies that _" and before I could finish, she interupted by saying:

"You bet I do!"

I guess the lesson to this story is simply_ don't leave notes!
