When I was a kid for the two years we lived in Turkey (1977-1979), I used to watch a lot of episodes of "Flipper." I suppose the whole series is on dvd now.

Today, we go with a quote from famous Chicagoan Mike Royko (1932-1997) who was the Windy City's most famous journalist:

This song came from the artist formerly known as Prince, or is he now calling himself Prince again?

I was not a fan of him as a teenager, but like a lot of music I grew up with I like it more now than I did back then!

Due to the fact that I had taken in a Journey/Night Ranger concert the night before (no snickering please), I was unable to attend a They Might Be Giants show in Raleigh, NC, the following day.

But the quirky group known not only for "Istanbul (Not Constaninople)" but also the theme song for the sitcome "Malcolm in the Middle" will be performing at the State Theatre in Ithaca, NY, on Oct. 1. Perhaps, some of you live in that area......?!

TMBG is also known for singing some very, very short songs!

Songs of Our Youth (8 of 12)_ "I Know What Boys Like" by The Waitresses

I actually found the lp which featured this song by the punk band The Waitresses at the Big Flea Market in Greensboro, NC, for a mere two bucks!

The band from Akron, Ohio, is also known for their song "Christmas Wrapping," which is frequently played on radio stations around Christmas time.

Sadly, the Waitresses' lead singer Patty Donahue tried at age 40 from lung cancer in 1996. The band also performed the title song for the cult tv sitcome "Square Pegs," which ran in the early 1980s and featured a very young Sarah Jessica Parker.

As for Uma Thurman, well---yes, I am definitely an admirer of her's!

As of yesterday, this blog, which originally started on AOL, is now in its fourth year.

We recieved record traffic hits during the Virginia Tech shooting tragedy and the 2008 Summer Olympics.

Otherwise, it's been something like nine hits per day, and frankly I don't give a
