Things We Learned on Twitter Today- Johnny Weir Overslept

Yikes! We know the feeling, but since I have to be at work by 7:45 a.m., oversleeping is now a weekend thing though it can prevent one from going to the Alamance County Farmer's Market!

Alas, Johnny Weir, the openly gay American figure skater who competed at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, tweeted that he overslept today:

"Overslept. I hate doing that. So much to do today."

We certainly hope our friend Cong. Tom Perriello (D-Va) who has the distinction of being a moderate progressive in what is primarily a 'Dukes of Hazard' Fifth District got up when the roosters crowed at a barn in South Hill, Va. (which is in his district). He faces Republican challenger Robert Hurt, a state senator in the Virginia General Assembly who is hopefully still in his pajamas.

We are also hoping that some of my former Facebook friends who haven't 'refriended me' since I rejoined Facebook after my fiasco with a hacker from Istanbul, Turkey, of all places! So far, mostly attractive women are snubbing me. So, how exactly is cyberspace different from the real world?!

Happy Fourth of July from Speedy Gonzales!

Everyone from El Paso, Tex., to Belfast, Maine, seems to be having a great Fourth of July so far, and one such person is Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir who tweeted the following about an hour ago:

"I saw the entire NYC fireworks from my patio. Stunning and so inspiring."

Sitcom star Rainn Wilson of "The Office" expressed similar sentiments on his latest tweet:

"Happy Birthday America. Have another chilli cheese dog with curly fries and a 64oz Mountain Dew on me!"

For those of you venturing near the hamlet of Floyd, Va. (about 20 miles from the college-town of Blacksburg, Va., where Virginia Tech is), we highly recommend El Charro Mexican Grill located at 320 South Locust Street (phone 540-745-5303). An internet poster who is originally from Houston, Tex., said it was the best Mexican food he or she had tasted in the Roanoke-Blacksburg area. We couldn't agree more!

Funny Tweet from American Skater Johnny Weir

Though I am following a lot of Olympic athletes on Twitter, including the flamboyant American men's figure skater Johnny Weir, I missed this particular tweet from him but I noticed it in "USA Today" and thought I would share it. Weir finished sixth in the men's figure skating competition.

He has his own show on The Sundance Channel called "Be Good, Johnny Weir."

Here is the quote, which might make wonder if Weir has some kind of obsessive-compulsive disorder:

"I'm very homesick today. Maybe I just miss my vacuum? That's probably it."
